Coaching Experience

Tyler is a coach who builds positive relationships with players and takes pride in having them feeling comfortable enough to approach him and ask questions or seek advice. Strong communication skills are at the core of Tyler’s coaching philosophy, as it’s his goal to understand what the player is thinking in order to understand their thought process. Tyler believes in very honest feedback and challenging players to get outside their comfort zone. Tyler values individual skill development work, whether that’s shooting, passing or skating.

Tyler Fiddler grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He played U18 AAA for the Prince Albert Mintos, winning the TELUS Cup in 2007. He was listed by the Calgary Hitmen and went on to play 3 seasons with them. He won the WHL championship in 2010 and was named team captain the following year. He used his WHL scholarship and went on to play 5 years in USports for the MRU Cougars while graduating with a Business Degree.

Fiddler collected a CIS First Team All Canadian (2015-2016) and won the Mount Royal University Male Athlete of the Year Award in 2015-2016. To this date, Fiddler is arguably one of MRU Hockey’s top recruits in the existence of the program. After that he had a brief stint in the ECHL with the Colorado Eagles, before heading overseas to play 3 seasons in Denmark and 1 in Germany.

A fun fact about Tyler is he’s lost 6 teeth so far playing hockey, and that he loves fishing! In fact, he once caught an 80-pound Rooster Fish in Costa Rica.
